So, Romeo and I went camping this past weekend. Well, we were home, but it felt like we were camping. On Saturday night
there was a big storm with hurricane force winds, which is not typical for where we live. Our power went out at about 6pm.
We both thought, no worries, it should come back on in a couple of hours, so we switched over to the Blackberry and continued
chatting online. It never came back on Saturday night, but we thought...no worries...when we wake up everything will be back
to normal.
So, Romeo and I wake up on Sunday and we still have no electricity. Now we realize that without electricity
we also don't have any heat or hot water...hmmmmm. At this point, the puter, the cell, and the vid iPod were dead. So off
I went, to Starbucks, to hunt for food and power...hehehe. When I got back home on Sunday night, I saw a little dance of lights
going on in the tree where the transformer is. I ran into the house to get the Poochie, Romeo, and we followed the trail to
the fire department (on the way I called 911). By the time we got to the FD they were in the truck on their way to our house,
so we followed them back home.
While they were assessing our "camp site", Romeo and I were chillin' with the
guys in the fire truck. Once they said the tree wasn't going to catch fire, Romeo and I went back into our "tent".
We lit the candles, turned on our flashlights, ate the food I had hunted earlier at Starbucks, and settled in for the night
under the covers...it was a lil' chilly. Monday morning brought hope, but alas, our lil' camping adventure wasn't over yet.
To cut to the chase...we finally got our electricity turned back on by lunch time on Monday.
So, if you're looking for
something to do over the weekend, try camping right in your own house.
